Candle Care
100% beeswax candles burn brighter and longer than any other wax candle and with just a little care, you can get the longest, cleanest burn out of your candle. Here are some tips and tricks to maintaining and enjoying your candle:
Your wick should be trimmed to ~ 1/4" before each burn, simply pinch off any excess charred wick before burning.
Each burn, especially your first, should be long enough that the wax melts all the way to the edges of the candle. This is because wax has a "memory" and will continue to burn to the same melt radius as the first time is is burned.
Don't "power burn" your candles. Burning your candle for more than 5 hours straight can decrease the overall burn time of your candle. For best results burn your Blue Bug candle for 1-4 hours.
After burning, gently “hug” the edges of the still soft, unmelted wax in towards the centre of the candle. This prevents "tunnelling," wasted wax, and increases burn time.
Over time, if not burned, your beeswax candle will develop a bloom, giving it a “dusty” look. This is completely natural and can be removed by wiping or warming the candle
To extinguish your candle gently dip the wick into the melted wax and return it to an upright position. This will reduce smoke created upon extinguishing and eliminate any wax splatter.
